The Publishing Triangle is a community of queer professionals and readers dedicated to advancing books and other works by LGBTQ authors or with LGBTQ themes. Our members include editors, agents, booksellers, designers, publicists, sub-rights and sales staff, educators, librarians, freelancers, writers, and readers from all backgrounds.
Our primary mission is carried out through our annual awards program, which shines critical light on LGBTQ literature. We present ten awards each spring—typically at the New School in Manhattan—with cash prizes ranging from $500 to $3,000. Ten honor the best LGBTQ books of the previous year across nonfiction, fiction, poetry, and trans/gender-variant literature. We also present a lifetime achievement award, an emerging writer award, a torchbearer award, and a leadership award recognizing a key figure in the book industry.
Through social media, our newsletter, and events such as live and virtual readings and community gatherings in New York City, we help foster connection and support within the queer literary community.
Membership dues start at $50 per year for individuals, with family and business options available. More information is on our membership page.
