All of these literary prizes include honorariums: $1,000 for each of the ten open awards; $3,000 for The Bill Whitehead Award for Lifetime Achievement; $1,500 for The Betty Berzon Emerging Writer Award; $500 for The Michele Karlsberg Leadership Award; $1,000 for The Publishing Triangle Torchbearer Award.
The Bill Whitehead Award for Lifetime Achievement, which is among the highest-paying awards in LGBTQ+ letters, and the Amber Hollibaugh Award for LGBTQ+ Social Justice Writing, do not have a formal submission process. The awards committee and the Whitehead judges compile a list of candidates.
The deadline for submissions is Friday, December 6, 2024. There is a submission fee of $40 per title per category, or $40 per Berzon submission. Please visit the submissions page and click on award for guidelines. Individual award curators will reply with book/PDF submissions requirements for our judging panels.
A short-list of finalists will be announced in March 2025.
Winners will be announced at our awards ceremony, Thursday, April 17, 2025, to be hosted again by Emanuel Xavier.
